Our Story
In 1993, our family’s journey truly began when we purchased a modest 7-acre property with a small 650-square-foot home. It was all we could afford at the time—but it was ours, and that made it special. Two years later, in 1995, I traveled to Guangzhou, China, for the first time. There, I tasted roasted goose—and from the very first bite, I was captivated. For eight unforgettable weeks, I enjoyed roasted goose nearly every day. Its rich flavor, tenderness, and the deep sense of tradition behind the dish left an impression I would never forget.
When I returned to Guangzhou in 2001, those same flavors brought back all the warmth and memories of my first visit. Before leaving, I was given a remarkable gift—50 Brown Chinese Goose eggs, ready to hatch. Against all odds, those goslings made it safely home, marking the humble beginning of what would one day become BCG Goose Farm & Hatchery.
Starting the farm in the wake of 9/11 felt deeply symbolic—a small act of hope, renewal, and purpose during a time of national heartbreak. I’ve always believed it was meant to be.
Over the years, what began as a simple hobby gradually grew into a thriving, family-run farm. After retiring, I was finally able to dedicate myself fully to expanding our flock and refining our operation—it has truly become a labor of love for our entire family.
We began with a small shed that served as our feed barn, feed mill, and incubation room, equipped with a homemade 300-egg incubator and a flock of roughly 250 breeding geese. Today, that modest beginning has transformed into a renovated mobile home converted into an incubation barn, now housing two 3,000-egg incubators and a custom stainless-steel brooder ingeniously repurposed from an old refrigerator. Our flock has since grown to more than 1,500 geese—a reflection of our hard work, innovation, and dedication.
Our children, grandchildren and fur babies all play an active role in the farm. Through their work, they’ve learned the value of responsibility, patience, and dedication that come with caring for animals and running a family business.
